From Goodreads:
Alessandra is tired of being overlooked, but she has a plan to gain power:
1) Woo the Shadow King.
2) Marry him.
3) Kill him and take his kingdom for herself.
No one knows the extent of the freshly crowned Shadow King’s power. Some say he can command the shadows that swirl around him to do his bidding. Others say they speak to him, whispering the thoughts of his enemies. Regardless, Alessandra knows what she deserves, and she’s going to do everything within her power to get it.
But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen?

"All the time in the world is worth nothing if I don’t get to spend it with you."
Slytherin romance is my newest obsession and kryptonite. Holy crap. I fell in love with this book so bad, so fast.
Tricia Levenseller became one of my most loved authors immediately after I read and fell in love with Riden and Alosa's story. She writes so beautifully and always delivers swoonworthy romances. And anyone who knows me knows I'm a die-hard romantic. I love me some swoon. Lol.
The Shadows Between Us is heavier on the romance than the fantasy. Which wasn't what I was expecting but it was definitely most welcome. Alessandra and Kallias were absolute perfection. I love their ruthlessness and cunning. They're so terribly tragic together I love it!
I honestly wish this book was longer. I need more of Kallias and Alessandra! And I didn't get this invested in Hestia and Rhoda to not want to know more! Will definitely read this again!
Looking forward to reading more books from the author!
"I think that when you care enough for someone, you reach a point where it’s far more painful not to have him at all than to have him and risk losing him. You realize the risk is worth it. Because happiness, however short-lived, is always worth it."
I received an e-arc via Edelweiss+ to read and review.
