Incessant Rambling: What I Got in the Mail Part II

Remember my Incessant Rambling: What I Got in the Mail post? Well, I promised a part 2 and here it is, finally! And yes, it took me that long to post this 'cause there's school stuff - studying, homeworks, quizzes - and then there's the personal stuff - like reading, sleeping, hobbies - and then there's Criminal Minds. Yep! I just finished watching Criminal Minds Season 8 and can I just say I love, love, love it?! So see, not much time for blogging, really.

Anyway, here's what I'm sharing -
Have you read this uber amazing book Gravity yet and read about Jackson and Ari? Well, one time I was stalking authors again - you know going to their fb page, Goodreads author page, official blog and such - and bam! I saw a post of Author Melissa West that says she's giving away a Gravity paperback. And the best part was that it was open to international readers! And then imagine my total shock and disappointment that the contest has been running for quite some time now and I missed a few days already to win the coveted price. Fast forward it to when the contest ends and then...
I received an e-mail from Melissa West and do you know what it says? She said I won the effingly-awesome giveaway! I mean how lucky is that?!

And when the mail arrived? I was like O_O

and still like O_O a minute after...

'Cause you know what's in the package?
Well, there isn't only the paperback copy of the book but also...

Tada!

A shirt that fits me perfectly, a paperback copy of the book and a signed bookmark.

And if that's not enough, Melissa West signed it with a message to me! I mean, isn't that great or what? Huh, huh?!

And since I'm always excited when I receive stuff like this, I go all fangirl, text my friends (and make them jealous, lol) and take as many pictures as I can.

Here's the front of the shirt and it looks really badass with 'Gravity' on the front -

And on the back, it says
Don't. Ever. Peek.

I would have taken a picture of me wearing the shirt (oh actually I did) but then I get shy sometimes and I decide against posting it here. So anyway, that's my haul and my latest win.

A very ginarmous thank you to Melissa West and can I just say I loved Gravity so much and I cannot wait to read Hover.

Here are the books -

Gravity (The Taking book 1)

In the future, only one rule will matter:

Don’t. Ever. Peek.

Seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander just broke that rule and saw the last person she expected hovering above her bed — arrogant Jackson Locke, the most popular boy in her school. She expects instant execution or some kind of freak alien punishment, but instead, Jackson issues a challenge: help him, or everyone on Earth will die.

Ari knows she should report him, but everything about Jackson makes her question what she’s been taught about his kind. And against her instincts, she’s falling for him. But Ari isn’t just any girl, and Jackson wants more than her attention. She’s a military legacy who’s been trained by her father and exposed to war strategies and societal information no one can know — especially an alien spy, like Jackson. Giving Jackson the information he needs will betray her father and her country, but keeping silent will start a war.

Hover (The Taking book 2)

On Earth, seventeen-year-old Ari Alexander was taught to never peek, but if she hopes to survive life on her new planet, Loge, her eyes must never shut.

Because in this world, pleasure is everything, held up by a ruling body that keeps their people in check by giving them what they want and closing their eyes to what's really happening around them. The only hope Loge has is to move its people to Earth, and they have a plan.

Thousands of humans crossed over to Loge after a poisonous neurotoxin released into Earth’s atmosphere, nearly killing them. They sought refuge in hopes of finding a new life, but what they became were slaves, built to siege war against their home planet. That is, unless Ari and Jackson can stop them.

But on Loge, nothing is as it seems…and no one can be trusted.

About the Author

Olivia Hardin realized early on how strange she was to have complete movie-like character dreams as a child. Eventually she began putting those vivid dreams to paper and was rarely without her spiral notebooks full of those mental ramblings. Her forgotten vision of becoming an author was realized when she connected with a group of amazingly talented and fabulous writers who gave her lots of direction and encouragement. With a little extra push from family and friends, she hunkered down to get lost in the words.
She’s also an insatiable crafter who only completes about 1 out of 5 projects, a jogger who hates to run, and is sometimes accused of being artistic, though she’s generally too much of a perfectionist to appreciate her own work. A native Texas girl, Olivia lives in the beautiful Lone Star state with her husband and their puppy Bonnie.

Book Tour Stop: All For Hope Review and Giveaway!

The Book.

All for Hope

To protect her heart, he left her behind. To protect her life, he’ll leave the life he's made behind. Sometimes the safest distance between two hearts is no distance at all…

Kidnapping a baby wasn’t something Hope ever dreamed she would do. But she’s been burned by the legal system before, so when the court places her friend’s child into the custody of an abuser, she takes matters into her own hands. She steals the baby and fakes her death, hoping to make a clean getaway. She planned every detail, except one. Her high school sweetheart and best friend, who left her years before, sees her at a gas station.
Hope thinks all is lost, until he offers to help them. Brennan had always been the love of Hope’s life, but he never wanted to be. She knows she cannot depend on him for long. However, as each day passes, it becomes painfully obvious that she is in way over her head. She goes with him, intending to keep him always an arm’s length away to protect her heart. But being on the run together sparks the old flames that once burned between Brennan and Hope. Families, friends, and lovers must band together to save an innocent baby and a daring woman or both of their lives will be destroyed. Together, they’ll do it All for Hope…

Rating: 3.5 stars (out of 5)

I have always been a huge fan of romance. Be it at movies or in books, I love a good romantic story that would make my heart race. Now add to that a touch of mystery and adventure and I’ll definitely be squealing in delight.

When I started reading All for Hope I did not know what to expect. I was intrigued with the blurb and the cover really got me but I wasn’t entirely sure it as my “kind of book”. But, what the heck, I decided to read it anyway and I couldn’t stop.
The main character, Hope Sheffield, is someone who is selfless, pensive, determined and independent. She has a strong, fiery personality and a lot of guts. The plot of the book – what she did – isn’t something you see or even read about every day. This is one of those things that will astonish you and will really get to you and make you question things and wonder.
What I love most about Hope is she’s just that – hope. A ray of light that will keep you believing and afloat and make you hold on even if things seem impossibly hard. Hope has this magnetic, alive personality that would pull you in and make you feel. She’s very genuine and unpretentious that one can’t help but admire her.

I enjoyed reading the book a lot. I rarely come across a book that I’m hesitant to read but end up liking it unexpectedly.
The story just flew effortlessly and well. And the transition between the characters was just as good. The best part about the book is the characters. They will inexplicably draw you in with their dynamic, quirky, alluring personality. They were equally well-rounded and very fun to read. The Rawleys especially are my favorite. They have unique, charismatic personalities that make them stand out. Reading about them was never dull and they sure are an amusing lot.

The second best part about the book? Brennan and Hope. Their relationship isn’t an easy one. With each other, they’re never sure of what would happen next or if things would work out or if is it worth another heartbreak.
Brennan Rawley isn’t exactly prince charming material. With his gorgeous, to-fall-for smile and charming personality, it’s easy to fall for him and get your heart broken. He’s a secretive person who would rather burden himself with things rather than open up to someone. He can be very sweet and infuriating at the same time. But what I liked most about Brennan is that he does things so out of his character that would make you question if he really is the kind of person you think he is.
The romance between Hope and Brennan is slow and sweet and passionate. They had a past that didn’t work out so well and this made them both skeptical about admitting what they still obviously feel for each other.

All for Hope is a book I recommend everyone to read. All parts drama, adventure, humor and romance, this book will make you question things and believe in what people can do and how good they can be. It makes you realize that people do change and that love – true love – no matter how painful can be very beautiful and worth all the heartbreak in the world.

I received a free ebook copy of the book as part of the blog tour.

Promise Me This by Sarah Ashley Jones

Cover Design by Okay Creations.
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance

Welcome to the South - where the tea is sweet and the accents are sweeter. This Southern way of life is all Charlie has ever known. It’s not until she loses the only person who pushed her to break free of the Southern Belle mold that she starts living the life she needs and not the life her parents forced on her.

Jhett has lived on the edge for as long as he could remember - constantly teetering back and forth between being a rock star and living a normal life. His rebellious and sometimes arrogant attitude is known to get him into trouble, especially with the girls who hang on his every move.

Charlie never thought that a trip to pack up her brother’s apartment would leave her feeling even more unsettled about the grainy details of her brother’s death. Her quest for information leads her straight to his old hangout and into arms of Jhett, who suspiciously knows more about her situation than he ever should.

Only a few questions remain - Can you trust someone based on their word alone? And if you make a promise, how far will you go to keep it?

About The Author

Sarah Ashley Jones was raised in San Diego, California, but currently wrangles her husband and four dogs in Clarksville, Tennessee. When she's not writing she works in a pottery studio and comes home covered in paint on a daily basis. She has a slightly unhealthy obsession with cupcakes and chapstick. She is an eternal optimist and can often be found dancing and singing to music at any given time. It's rare to see her not smiling or laughing, but if you do, just bring her a cupcake and it will cheer her up.

Promise Me This is her first novel and is a story that weaseled its way into her heart and wouldn't leave her alone until she typed it up on the computer. She already is hard at work on ideas for her next book and hopes that the
characters never stop coming to her. Her huge imagination was always in overdrive as a child and now she is beyond excited to put it to good use as an adult. She plans to write as long as she has stories that need to be told.

HERE'S A LITTLE TEASER JUST FOR YOU
“Is there something on my face?” I asked, mid-wipe.
“You’ve got a little…frosting…” He chuckled as he brought his hand up to my cheek and ran the gentle pad of his thumb over my now parted lips.  He inspected his work and frowned.  “I don’t think I got it all…” His voice was a low growl as he leaned in and kissed the corner of my lips; trailing feathery kisses at a teasingly slow place down to the center of my bottom lip, before sucking it all the way into his mouth.  He nibbled on it softly while he tangled his hand into my hair and deepened the kiss. I was leaning into him, craving more of his touch with each second that passed.
Jhett brought his other hand up to my cheek, cupped my face with both hands, and broke the kiss.  I let out an unexpected whimper as he drew my forehead in to his.  “Any more of that, and we won’t make it to the rest of your birthday presents,” he said between breaths.
I sat back and folded my hands into my lap.  “Well, if we get to do that again as one of them, I’m all about it,” I smirked at him.

No one is more surprised than she is when characters take over the plot and dialog, and (re)direct stories in directions she had not (consciously) intended. She is fully convinced that the writer is the tool a story uses to tell its tale. Some tools, of course, are more appropriate for the job than others. Here's hoping, you feel she did her stories proud. T. has a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management from Whitworth University, and a Master's Degree in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University and before becoming a writer she was a bookkeeper, technical/manual writer, Call Center Manager and the owner of a freshwater aquarium store, Guppy Tales.
