Blog Tour, Guest Post & Giveaway: GOING OFF-SCRIPT by Jen Wilde

GOING OFF-SCRIPT
Release Date: May 21, 2019; Swoon Reads
Romance, Young Adult

About the book:
A TV writer’s room intern must join forces with her crush to keep her boss from ruining a lesbian character in this diverse contemporary YA romance from the author of Queens of Geek.

Seventeen-year-old Bex is thrilled when she gets an internship on her favorite tv show, Silver Falls. Unfortunately, the internship isn’t quite what she expected… instead of sitting in a crowded writer’s room volleying ideas back and forth, Production Interns are stuck picking up the coffee.

Determined to prove her worth as a writer, Bex drafts her own script and shares it with the head writer―who promptly reworks it and passes it off as his own! Bex is understandably furious, yet…maybe this is just how the industry works? But when they rewrite her proudly lesbian character as straight, that’s the last straw! It’s time for Bex and her crush to fight back.

Jen Wilde’s newest novel is both a fun, diverse love story and a very relevant, modern take on the portrayal of LGBT characters in media.

DREAM MOVIE CAST FOR Going Off Script
by Jen Wilde

I’m not going to lie, I’ve had my dream cast for this book picked since I first sat down to write it. Here’s a list of who I’d choose to play the main characters:

BEX: Liv Hewson

If you’ve seen Santa Clarita Diet, then you’ll already know the actress I’d choose to play Bex. Liv Hewson played Abby, the rebellious teenage daughter in the dark comedy.

SHRUPTY: Nikkita Chadha

Nikkita isn’t very well-know right now, but I hope to see her on all our screens soon. You’ll spot her in the upcoming Aladdin remake, or maybe you’ve seen her on Instagram and Twitter. She’s my dream actress to play Shrupty, and I think she’d do an amazing job.

PARKER: Troye Sivan

Troye was who I pictured when I was writing Going Off Script, so I can’t see anyone else filling that role more perfectly. He’d bring the humor, heart and soul to Parker that I love so much.

DANTE: Keiynan Lonsdale

This is the third Aussie in the list, but I can’t help it if we’re all such a talented bunch, haha. Ever since I saw Keiynan in Love, Simon, I’ve wanted to write something for him in my books. He would be the perfect Dante.

MALCOLM: James Marsden

I wasn’t sure who I’d choose to play Malcolm until I watched Dead To Me on Netflix. James Marsden played a douchey, manipulative guy a little too perfectly, which is why he’d be my number one pick for Malcolm.

JANE: Tina Fey

I mean, this is probably an easy choice. Jane is a tv writer who’s constantly stressed out and picking up the slack from her boss, so of course I thought of Tina Fey.
