A beautiful young girl was walking down the street―when suddenly…

Julia Carroll knows that too many stories start that way. Beautiful, intelligent, a nineteen-year-old college freshman, she should be carefree. But instead she is frightened. Because girls are disappearing.

A fellow student, Beatrice Oliver, is missing. A homeless woman called Mona-No-Name is missing. Both taken off the street. Both gone without a trace.

Julia is determined to find out the reasons behind their disappearances. And she doesn't want to be next… Add it on Goodreads.

Michael Connelly calls Karin Slaughter "unrivaled among thriller writers." This gripping, unforgettable short story proves why. And be sure to order Karin's new novel, Pretty Girls, on sale September 29, 2015.

BOOK REVIEW:
Rating: 3 of 5 stars

I've mentioned before that I hate reading novellas. I hate it. How can anyone expect me to be satisfied if all you're giving me is a book with less than a hundred pages only? Where's the justice in that?

I've never read anything by Karin Slaughter but Blonde Hair, Blue Eyes is a good ya fiction thriller. I would have preferred a full-length novel than the novella though. It felt like the first few pages dragged and the ending was rushed. The book focused more on Julia's everyday life (her bitchy roommate and supposed bff, her boyfriend, her jerk co-staff on the newspaper... all the boring stuff of any college student's life) and it made the book feel more contemporary-ish than thriller-ish.
Julia didn't make much of an impression as a heroine to me too. But I'm hoping that would change in Pretty Girls.

I absolutely loved the ending! How can I not when most of the action that happened was in the last few pages of the book. If the story started with the ending and unraveled from there, I would have given the book a four (maybe five) star rating.
The ending just begs you to read the next book so yes I would definitely check that out.

I received an e-arc to read and review.
