ADORKABLE
Release Date: March 31st 2016
Summary from Goodreads:
Adorkable (ah-dor-kuh-bul):
Descriptive term meaning to be equal parts dorky and adorable. For reference,
see Sally Spitz.
Seventeen-year-old Sally Spitz is done with dating. Or at least,
she's done with the horrible blind dates/hookups/sneak attacks her matchmaking
bestie, Hooker, sets her up on. There's only so much one geek girl and
Gryffindor supporter can take.
Her solution: she needs a fake boyfriend. And
fast.
Enter Becks, soccer phenom, all-around-hottie, and Sally's best
friend practically since birth. When Sally asks Becks to be her F.B.F. (fake
boyfriend), Becks is only too happy to be used. He'd do anything for Sal--even
if that means giving her PDA lessons in his bedroom, saying she's "more
than pretty," and expertly kissing her at parties.
The problem: Sally's been in love with Becks all her life--and
he's completely clueless.
This book features two best friends, one special edition Yoda
snuggie, countless beneath-the-ear kisses and begs the question:
Who wants a real boyfriend when faking it is so much more fun?
BOOK REVIEW
Rating: 4.2 of 5 stars
This book! This book!! This. Book.
Gah. I don't even know where to start.
I knew there's a reason why I love YA
contemporaries and this book is IT.
I don't think I've ever read a book sweeter
and cuter than Adorkable. This book hit me right in the feels and I never
wanted it to end. I was laughing, smiling and swooning right along with the
characters. Becks and Sally frustrated me quite a few times but made me fall in
love with them for the most part. They're two of the most adorable fictional
characters I've met and I just LOVE them both!
Sally is sassy, sweet and a geek. She would
fit right in with Sheldon Cooper and gang which made me like her even more. She
loves Harry Potter, Star Trek and can speak German when mad. She's relatable
and funny. It's so easy to see one's self in her shoes. I would want to be her bestfriend!
And Becks. My gosh BECKS. I want me some
Becks. I just wanted to grab him and hug him and just... Can I have him for a
day Cookie? Pretty please?!? He's sweet, charming, fiercely loyal and an
amazing friend. I don't think I need to say more. I mean he's BECKS. What's not
to love? He just swept me off my feet from the first moment I saw him and I
don't think my heart's letting go anytime soon.
Sal and Becks had crazy chemistry and I was
just rooting for them from the start. Granted I wanted to hit them a lot of
times because come on, HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE YOU'RE PERFECT FOR EACH OTHER?!? I
love the banter and the obvious affection that just comes naturally to them. My
heart was melting. And that scene when they were arguing about the accident on
the monkey bars? I. DIED. I didn't think my heart could survive any more
cuteness.
Adorkable is such an amazing read! Read it
in one sitting (yes it is that good) and I am craving for more. It was funny,
super sweet, highly entertaining and true to its title truly adorkable. It
reminded me a lot of another book I love, The Fill In Boyfriend by Kasie West.
(If you have not read that book yet either I recommend that you do.)
Not only were Sal and Becks amazing, the minor characters were pretty great too! Becks' family was the kind of family you'd want to be a part of. Hooker and Sal's mom were fiercely protective and caring. Ash pretty much surprised me (can I ask for his book next if there is one?). And there's no question that Sal's dad was a complete insert-an-insult-here-worse-than-jerk.

The only thing that bothered me was how
much all of the people in Sal's life was so obsessed with her not being in a
relationship. I mean I'm 20 and already turning 21 in just a few months and
I've never had a boyfriend. I don't see anything wrong with that. And I don't
think anyone should make me feel bad for that. We are all beautiful and loved.
We don't need to be in a romantic relationship to prove that.
That's the only
thing that put a damper on my reading. But it was only in about the first few
chapters of the book so I got over it eventually.
If you're looking for a light, refreshing,
funny and swoony read with two lovable characters who are both so maddeningly
adorable then Adorkable is a book you wouldn't want to miss! Highly
recommended!
