Book Review: Torched

Rose Whitfield's senior year just went up in smoke. Instead of having a blast with her best friend, her cheerleading squad, and her boyfriend Ryan, she's framed for arson. Popularity and criminal records don't mix, apparently.

Luckily, Rose knows who's framing her: Paxton Callaway. Paxton and Rose have spent years locked in a war of practical jokes. This time he's gone too far. Rose sets out to prove her innocence, win Ryan back, and take Paxton down hard.

Not necessarily in that order.

Review of Torched by Andrea Lynn Colt
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love love love this book- I don't even know where to begin!

I just finished reading Torched like, five minutes ago and I'm still a little bit hungover (if there is such a thing in books, and well I believe there is) from reading it.
I enjoyed Torched too much that I'm afraid I'll just continue on babbling about how much I love it and what I love about it if I don't keep myself in check. Okay, deep breaths *sigh*

I was bored, I sat down and decided to read my newly conquered book.. and who would have thought I'd get so hooked I'd stay up all night just to try and finish it [even if it was a school night]? Anyway, Torched was that good. I love every bit of it - the plot, the characters, the humor, the drama, the romance, the mystery and the thrill you get while reading it.
The book presents a unique story line that you just can't help but want to know what's next. I loved Miss Colt's writing style. It was carefree and light and absolutely humorous. There was also some twists (I did guess some of it but that didn't stop me from enjoying the book).
What I love most about the book though is the characters. They all hold so much personality and are all equally interesting. But of course, I hold a special place in my heart for Paxton Callaway. Rose and Paxton's relationship is a total roller coaster ride (it hooks you just like that). Their banters, the verbal insults, the way they relate to each other and the way they can openly say they hated each other's guts - it was just all so sweet and sexy. Oh and did I mention Paxton was smokin' hot, maybe with a capital H?

Torched is also filled with life lessons. It tells us that everything we do affect other people and that sometimes we get too caught up in our perfect little world that we miss seeing the people around us.
I love how Rose finally came to terms with everything in the end and how she changed from being mean to being protective and more understanding of the people around her. She's a tough, stubborn and overly determined character and I adore that about her.
There was character development and I liked that very much.

Torched is one book no one should miss (trust me on this)!

Book Review: ReVamped (Angel Creek 1)

ReVamped (Angel Creek, #1)

A simple mission turned deadly.

Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true. When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.

Review of ReVamped by Ada Adams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

You'd know a great book when you see it and author Ada Adam's ReVamped is an absolutely good one!

There are now so many "vampire books" out there that one could name a hundred in one sitting (or I may just be exaggerating, sheesh). ReVamped however is definitely one book out of hundreds you'd find yourself fully captivated in up until you turn that very last page.

Ada Adams has given a whole new way to look at vampires. In ReVamped, vampires are not featured as feral, bloodsucking creatures anyone would want to stay away from. Instead, they're more like the celebrities of modern time living peacefully and freely with humans even to the extent that they have developed "bloody snacks" that are exclusively for vampires.
Ada Adams created a whole new and unique world that is undoubtedly engrossing and downright incredible. She's definitely an author to watch out for.

I honestly loved everything about the book. It was very well-written and paced just right. I didn't feel like it went on too fast nor too slow. I love how the words just flew easily and smoothly and how the story developed very well and took its time without being boring.
And the characters! All were equally fun and intriguing with completely different, unique personalities. I won't say much 'cause I might spill spoilers if I do, BUT I just have to say that Sebastian is very much my new book boyfriend, oh sigh..

Sebastian sat down beside me, tenderly touching my arm. His fingers lingered on my skin, sending a shiver down my spine. I felt lightheaded, but, this time, it had nothing to do with the Blood Vodka.

ReVamped is a refreshingly new YA paranormal filled with so much intensity, adventure, romance, humor, a little pinch of drama and a whole lot of vampire-butt-kicking.

ReVamped is a great start to a new series, I'm sure of it. This book is a definite must-read!
